Welcome Redwoods Staff Member

WE WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE REDWOODS TEAM;
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT CAMERON WATT!

Cameron Watt - Assistant Superintendent

Cameron joins us from Kananaskis Country Golf Course following the worst flood in Alberta history as it ravaged through both Mt.Kidd & Mt. Lorette courses to pretty much destroy everything in its path; it took one day to tear the courses apart. Cameron was the assistant superintendent at Mt. Kidd for 15 months and during his time they had just re-done 29 of the 36 greens. “It is heartbreaking to see the courses in this condition.”

     Before Redwoods:

Cameron’s passion for golf began at age 13 where he first picked up the game and has never looked back. When Cam was 16 he started working at a local course in Kelowna; Shadow Ridge as a cart washer & outside services where he remained through high school. After graduation, Cam was ready for more responsibilities; he found a place on the maintenance team at Sunset Ranch for his first experiences in turf care. After 1 year of turf care he was hooked and felt the desire to pursue an education in horticulture; he moved out to Langley for a 2-year program at Kwantlan in turf management. Heading home for the summer Cam landed himself a job at Predator Ridge where he became the lead foreman for 4 years following graduation. Following Predator Ridge, he relocated to Two Eagles Golf Course for 5 years as the assistant superintendent and in 2012 the opportunity was offered to move to the beautiful Kananaskis country for a position as assistant superintendent at Mt. Kidd.

     Outside of Work:

Cameron’s passion is golf and still enjoys a great round when not on the course working. Away from the golf course Cam also enjoys a number of other activities; as a teenager in Kelowna he spent a great amount of time on the mountains snowboarding; Big White was his preferred choice! From outside to inside, it turns out Cam has expressed his excitement to be back in an area with a number of curling clubs as he really appreciates a good curling match.

A man’s best friend, if Cam could do all of these activities with his dog Baxter he would but during summer he spends his time with Baxter on hiking adventures.

WELCOME CAMERON, ANOTHER GREAT ADDITION TO OUR TEAM!
