Crisp, clear weather made for a fantastic 15-minute light show in the skies over Walnut Grove Saturday night. The time-honoured Fireworks for Kids event once again attracted upwards of 800 people to The Redwoods Golf Course on Halloween night.
"It was a fabulous night" said Redwoods General Manager Erica Parnell. "We had some wonderful comments this year. And we changed things up a bit."
Even her three-year old daughter Lauren attended for the first time. While Lauren is not normally a fan or fireworks, she pleaded with Mommy to bring her back to Redwoods for the fireworks next year.
Admittedly, Parnell said she was worried about the turnout, when she saw the high winds and rain on Friday. But she described the event as "awesome," and having members of the Langley Chiefs Junior A hockey team on hand signing autographs was a great addition to this year's event.
Now in its 13th year, this annual event helped raise about $1,850 for the Langley Child Development Centre. This year's contributions, added to donations in past, bringing the fireworks tally to almost $14,000 that has been collected on behalf of the child decelopment centre and the famillies it supports.
