 MEET THE PROS

Doug Morgan-CPGA Head Teaching Professional

Doug Morgan is a Class “A” Member of the Canadian P.G.A. and the 2010 season marks his 12th year on our Professional Staff.
As our Head Teaching Professional, Doug’s duties are split between educating and testing our Annual Junior Pass Holder’s, instructing our junior-junior lesson program, facilitating our skills testing program, and organizing his own private and group lessons.
Doug has been instructing players of all skill levels throughout his nineteen year career. He continues to enjoy helping new golfers learn the fundamentals and experienced players make the transition from casual golf to competitive golf.
He continues to educate himself and gain personal experiences through reading and travelling.   In October 2006, Doug travelled to Palm Desert, California and attended a Dave Pelz three-day Short Game School. “I learned several new shots that have improved my scoring from inside 100 yards”. In November 2007, he travelled to Phoenix, Arizona and attended “Every Coach Must Have a Purpose” at the Vision 54 Golf School (#1 Ranked Golf School in the U.S.). “This experience showed me that learning this game is more than the technical aspects of “swing planes and angles of attack”.
Doug is actively involved in the PGA of BC, as a volunteer for the Teaching Centre at the Vancouver Golf & Travel Show and as a competitor in various provincial championships.
As well as the PGA of B.C. tournament schedule Doug competes locally on the Lower Mainland Srixon Tour and the Vancouver Golf Tour “I had three victories in 2008 [Kelowna Rotary Pro-Am @ Harvest G.C. 67 (-5), TELUS Skins Game Pro-Am @ Predator Ridge 66 (-5) and Srixon Tour Championship @ Capilano G. & C.C. and Vancouver G.C. 69-67 (-5)] and finished 3rd on the PGA of BC - Order of Merit”.

Matt Hardman-CPGA Head Golf Professional

Matt has been involved in golf for over twenty years. He started playing the game at the age of ten and quickly learned that playing wasn’t enough. His desire to learn more about the game led into a career in the golf industry. It only took a few years for Matt to start this path, he was twelve when he started working in a golf shop, and at eighteen attained his professional status. He’s now entering his nineteenth year as a golf professional, and his desire to learn hasn’t changed, it’s grown into wanting to share everything about this game with others as well.

Because Matt enjoys teaching beginner and intermediate golfers, he has been involved with junior programs and women’s programs throughout his career (such as Golf Fore Gals, Chicks with Sticks and Spikes on the Green). He believes in spending more time teaching short game as this is the area that can help you improve and lower your score quickly. After all, lower scores is what this game is all about!

Professional Highlights:
-         Three Hole-in-One’s
-         2001: 65 at Beach Grove Club, par 71
-         2004: 68 at Squamish Valley, par 72
o       Second Place Hogan Tour

David Park-CPGA Assistant Teaching Professional

Originally from Seoul, Korea, David graduated from the University of Hanyang with a physical education degree. This degree covered topics such as sport science, sports psychology, coaching theory, training methodology, and teaching methods of sport.

David is looking forward to teaching for his 6th season here at Redwoods. Before coming to Canada David started his golf career at the Rainbow Golf School in Seoul, Korea. He then spent two years in Sydney, Australia, teaching and playing golf. Last year David joined the Canadian PGA and looks forward to helping many golfers improve their game this season at Redwoods.

David’s goal is to find as many ways as possible to make learning fun and feels that since every golfer is different, each of his students should be taught differently. His skill as a teacher comes from his understanding of several different methods, and his ability to identify the perfect method and style for each of his students.

"I think people need to be taught according to their own individual learning styles. Whatever your goal, I have a golf learning program to suit your needs.” - David Park
