Welcome to The Redwoods Golf Course - Camp Redwoods Junior Program. The Redwoods is proud to continue our traditions of introducing Junior golfers to the
game of golf and guiding the ambitious players through their journey of excellence.
Our Camp Redwoods Junior Program involves three separate components:
1. Instructional Programs for players aged
4 through 18
2. Educational and Testing Programs
3. Playing Pass Programs

2008 Camp Redwoods Schedule
We offer three levels of instruction, designed to fit and challeng each player, regardless of their age abilities.
Equipment and driving range balls are included with all Junior Instruction Programs. |

Level I - Ages 4-18 Years
- Four (4) 40-minute sessions
- Introduction to the practice areas
- Safety
- Putting / Chipping Green
- Driving Range
- Golf Basics and Etiquette
- 5:1 Student-Instructor ratio
During our four sessions, we introduce the basics of grip, stance, posture, balance
and a strong finish position. We stress safety when on the driving range, proper practice/playing etiquette and care of the course when on the practice greens. Each participant receives a Snoopy etiquette pamphlet and Easy Golf Rules book.
Entry Fee: $50.00 + GST
- Level 1 - Skills Test

Level II - Ages 6-18 Years
All participants are required to successfully complete the Level I - Skills Testing before advancing to this class.
- Eight (8) 1-hour or Four (4) 2-hour sessions
- Skill refinement of:
- Set-up
- Swing fundamentals
- Short game
- Etiquette classroom seminar*
- 6:1 Student-Instructor ratio
Our focus is to prepare players for on-course situations, improving their skills and scoring abilities. During our eight hours, we refine swing and short game
fundamentals, educate players on course requirements and basic rules.
Entry Fee: $100.00 + GST
* Etiquette and Rules Seminars are not scheduled with the physical part of our Instruction Programs. See the Education and Seminars section for a complete listing of dates

- Level II - SKills Test

Level III - Ages 8-18 Years
All participants are required to successfully complete the Level II - Skills Testing
and Definitions, Etiquette, & Game Procedures Exam before advancing to
this class.
- 18 hours of instruction
- Eight (8) 60-minute driving range and short game sessions
- Four (4) 90-minute on-course game preparation sessions
- Two (2) 2-hour rules seminars
During our sixteen (16) hours of advanced instruction on swing fundamentals, lower scoring through better practice habits and practical on-course sessions.
Entry Fee: $300.00 + GST
- Level III - Skills Test

Skills Testing
At the completion of each lesson series, players are given the opportunity to
advance to the next level of instruction.
Players must demonstrate a level of proficiency with putting, chipping, wood and
irons swings.
We encourage parents to expose their children to these standards, use them as a
guide and to chart their progress.
Skills Testing - Level I, II, & III
Players must pass the Level II Skills Test to be eligible for the Junior (9 hole) Playing Pass.
Players must pass the Level III Skills Test to be eligible for the Players (18 hole) Playing Pass.

Etiquette Seminar
The 2-hour Etiquette & Handicapping Seminar covers:
- Spirit of the game
- Conduct, courtesy and procedures
- Pace of play
- Care of the course
- Scoring
- Procedures of how to keep a handicap
- Definitions
- Equitable stroke control
- Differential calculation
- Index calculation
- Course and slope ratings

Rules Seminar
We encourage all to familiarize themselves with the definitions in the Rules Book (www.rcga.org) prior to attending this seminar.
The first 2-hour Rules Seminar introduces players to the Rules Book, how to find rulings using both the contents and index sections.
The second 2-hour Rules Seminar covers the key concepts of:
- Nearest point of relief
- Marking, lifting and dropping
- Water and lateral hazards
- Lost ball
- Out of bounds
All education taught in our instruction program are fully transferable should a player
apply for one of our Season Pass Programs.
